Nothing hidden in the sum

Most numerology sites hand you a number and a paragraph about what it means. You are asked to take the number on faith. That has always seemed backwards here, because the arithmetic is the easiest part of numerology to be honest about. It is addition. There is no reason to keep it behind a curtain.

So Lumeriad lays it out. Every letter of your name with the value assigned to it, every reduction, every intermediate total, every point where a master number was held rather than reduced. If a result surprises you, you can trace it back and see exactly where it came from. If you think a step is wrong, you can see the step and say so.

The interpretation that follows is a reading, and you are free to take it or leave it. The arithmetic underneath it is checkable, and it should be.

The Life Path, all three ways

There are three classical ways to work a Life Path from a date of birth, and they are not cosmetic variations. You can add every digit of the date straight across and reduce the total. You can reduce the month, the day and the year to single digits first and then add those. Or you can reduce those three parts but hold any master number you meet on the way - a November birth carries an 11, the 22nd and the 29th carry a 22 and an 11 - and add them at full value.

That third method is where the trouble lives. Holding a master number inside a part changes the total, and a total of 20 reduces to 2 while a total of 11 stands as 11. Same date, same arithmetic, different answer.

Most of the time all three agree, which is why the disagreement rarely surfaces. But on about one birth date in six they do not, and whichever method a site happens to use then silently decides what you are told about your life.

Lumeriad works all three and shows you all three. When they agree you see that they agree, and the number stands on firmer ground than you knew. When they split, you see the split, you see which method produced which number, and the reading leads with the master only when at least two of the three find it - written in the 11/2 form, so both halves are visible. That is a more honest position than picking one quietly and hoping you never notice.

Who is behind this

Lumeriad is run by Mathew Field, working alone. There is no company, no team and no office. Contact is by email, and the person who answers is the person who built the site.

The source it works from is a copy of Norman Shine's Numerology: Your Character and Future Revealed in Numbers, a book given to him by his mother. That copy is why this exists. It is a careful, methodical book, and the care in it is the standard the site tries to meet, which is also why the arithmetic is printed rather than assumed.

A solo operator has one real advantage: there is nobody to argue with about whether the numbers should be shown. They are shown.

Beside astrology, not against it

Numerology and astrology are often set against each other, as though one has to be the real one. That framing does neither any good. They are two different vocabularies for the same impulse, which is looking at the circumstances of your arrival and asking what they suggest about the shape of you.

Astrology reads the sky at the moment you were born. Numerology reads the date and the name. They ask similar questions from different angles, and people who work with both tend to find they rhyme more often than they clash. If you came here from a chart reading, nothing you learn here is meant to displace it.

So Lumeriad sits beside astrology as a companion. Bring your chart. Bring what you already know about yourself. This is one more lens, not a replacement for the ones you have.

What a reading is for

A reading is for reflection. It gives you a structured set of prompts about temperament, tendency, timing and tension, drawn from a system with a long history and a consistent internal logic. Some of it will land immediately. Some of it will not. The parts that make you pause are usually the useful ones.

The Pinnacles and Challenges and the Personal Year in particular are better read as questions than as forecasts. What is being asked of me in this stretch of my life. What keeps recurring. Where does the friction sit. Those are good questions to sit with regardless of what you believe about the numbers.

Use it as a companion to your own thinking, not a substitute for it.

What a reading is not

It is not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and it must not be used in place of any of them. If something in your life needs a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant or a therapist, it needs one of those, and a Life Path number is not a second opinion.

It is not a prediction of guaranteed outcomes. Nothing here tells you what will happen. A Personal Year is a described quality of a season, not a schedule of events, and no number on this site forecloses a decision you are free to make.

And it is not a reason to hand over information about yourself. Your name and your date of birth are used for one purpose, casting your reading, and for nothing else. They are never sold, shared, traded or rented, to anyone, at any price. That is the founding promise of this site and it is not up for revision.
