What you want, underneath, is to no longer be at anybody's mercy. You want weight in the world — the capacity to say yes to a thing and have it happen, to write the cheque without a conversation, to be in the room where the decision is genuinely made rather than reported afterwards. Some of this is old: you remember being on the wrong end of somebody else's authority and you resolved something then.
What feeds it is capability you can prove and then use. Money that buys freedom you actually take. A position where your judgement is executed. Fixing something for people who could not have fixed it themselves, using leverage you built.
The counterfeit is the scoreboard. Numbers are legible and sufficiency is not, so you may chase the next figure, the better title, the visible car, and find each one resets the target within a fortnight.
Unfed, or fed only counterfeits, this becomes a life of accumulation without arrival — hard on yourself, harder on the people you love, unable to sit down. Name what the power is for. Spend some of it visibly on somebody else's future. Enough is a decision, not a balance.
